Job Summary Serves as single-point-of-contact for customer
distribution projects, which includes the customer account
relationship, project management from inception to completion and
distribution system development, reliability and maintenance.
Analyzes, designs and prepares structural and electrical
specifications and work orders. Aligns resources to meet customer
service commitments and leads teams to address customer needs.
These activities require consideration of cost effectiveness,
future growth, safety and other code requirements, and customer
satisfaction. ***LOCATION WILL BE IN THE GREATER HOUSTON AREA!***
Essential Functions
- Works with multiple departments, customers, municipalities,
outside consulting firms, and other utilities to gather information
in order to execute projects accurately and in a timely
manner.
- Works with elected officials and employees of city, county and
state entities to effectively service customers.
- Supports community and civic organizations through active
participation in project coordination and fund-raising events.
- Gathers project information, prepares estimates, analyzes data
and designs electrical and/or gas distribution facilities.
- Represents the company in service extension negotiations
related to service locations.
- Ensures customer obligations are met, negotiates and secures
payment of projects, researches easement rights, and maintains
completion of construction within specified timeframes.
- Identifies, evaluates, and if necessary, corrects pre-existing
issues related to compliance with governmental regulations, code
violations, and CenterPoint Energy standards. Corrective action may
require negotiation with customers related to safety, cost, and
legal responsibility.
- Review facilities for compliance with the National Electric
Safety Code (NESC), state, city and county governmental ordinances
and CenterPoint Energy standards. Also, must have working knowledge
of the National Electric Code (NEC).
- Performs field inspections as needed for final project
approval, foreign cable attachments, customer installed facilities,
and miscellaneous customer requests.
- Required to accept reassignment to different service center
locations to meet business needs and for development.
- Required to participate in CenterPoint Energy's Emergency
Operation Plan (EOP), will include extended working hours and
travel to other CenterPoint Energy Distribution Centers. Essential
Functions (cont.)
- Demonstrates expert level of proficiency in most if not all of
the technical skill areas required in the service consultant
function. Examples are Feeder development, Road Widening, 12kV,
35kV, MUD pad mount, Underground Residential Development, Street
Lights, Commercial development, Reliability, SOX, etc. These
activities require consideration of cost effectiveness, future
growth, safety and other code requirements, and customer
satisfaction.
- Provides project management for distribution capital and
maintenance programs for CenterPoint Energy.
- Regularly represents the Service Consultant function on company
task forces and special project assignments.
- Serves as a resource for others in managements absence.
Education Description
- Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college. Area
of concentration in construction science, construction management,
engineering, or technology preferred.
- In lieu of a degree, eight (8) years of applicable experience
in construction management, engineering, or technology may be
considered. Experience
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in a project management
role for an electric utility designing overhead and underground
