Summary: Under general direction of the Assistant Dean of the
College of Science, Engineering and Technology, provides service to
classroom equipment, video conferences, provides leadership for
faculty and staff in the effective use of new and current
technologies for instructional purposes, and other assigned duties,
provides technical and systems support and oversight for the
implementation, operation, and performance of specialized and
dedicated technology systems within the division. Essential Duties
Summary:
- Under general direction of the Assistant Dean of the College of
Science, Engineering and Technology, provides service to classroom
equipment, video conferences, provides leadership for faculty and
staff in the effective use of new and current technologies for
instructional purposes, and other assigned duties, provides
technical and systems support and oversight for the implementation,
operation, and performance of specialized and dedicated technology
systems within the division.
- Consults with faculty and staff in developing instructional use
of technologies; and provides assistance to faculty, staff and
administrators who have instructional technology needs.
- Troubleshoots problems with network, hardware and software
installation and application. Provides specialized user support
services to diagnose and resolve problems.
- Designs web site templates, site navigation, layout, and
content development for the college and departments.
- Programs and maintains a Student Retention Database and other
student databases as needed for the college.
- Researches, analyzes, and evaluates new technologies for
potential applications in instruction; and recommends new
technologies, hardware, software and related printers or other
materials for acquisition by the college.
- Creates demonstrations of instructional applications of
technologies; and plans, coordinates and conducts special topics
workshops in the use of technologies in instruction for faculty,
staff, or conferences.
- Arranges and schedules new technologies demonstrations and
workshops by vendors; and promotes the implementation of
technological innovations.
- Provides proposal preparation with regard to instructional
technology related projects.
- Publicizes and promotes services, resources, and activities of
the College.
- Performs other job-related duties as required. % FTE: 1.0
Hiring Range: $59,442.00 - $75,788.56 Education: Bachelor's Degree
(B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university
required. Required Licensing/Certification:
- Microsoft, Web or A+ certifications or similar; a plus.
- Valid Texas Driver's License preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and
Abilities:
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must have the ability to use personal computers and Microsoft
Office software such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Access.
- Requires working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment,
and procedures. Any combination of education, training and
experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. An
example of this would be a college degree in instructional
technology or related field and/or applied experience in
instructional development with background in the uses of new
technologies for instruction. Work Experience:
- Requires more than three years of related experience.
- Experience in computer courseware design and instructional
technology.
- Must have familiarity with instructional technologies through
Blackboard and Macromedia Studio (Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks,
Coldfusion, TOOLBOOK, JavaScript, CSS, dynamic HTML, etc.).
- Must have a familiarity with multiple operating systems
(Windows, MacOSX, Linux) and cross-browser issues (IE, Firefox,
Safari, Opera etc.). Working/Environmental Conditions: Regular and
substantial contact with others. Contacts usually involve
discussions related to instructional technology related issues and
negotiation with vendors as necessary. Handles some sensitive,
complex, and/or confidential information regarding databases. UA
