Job SummaryAssists the Team Leader in all aspects of daily
operations, including profitability, expense control, buying,
merchandising, labor, and regulatory compliance. Leverages
leadership skills to develop and maintain a high-performing team,
focusing on exceptional customer service, sales growth, and
operational efficiency. Collaborates with the Team Leader to drive
business results, foster a positive work environment, and ensure
adherence to Whole Foods Market standards and regulations.Key
Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains creative store layouts and product
merchandising strategies to drive sales growth and enhance the
customer shopping experience.
- Works closely with the Team Leader to achieve sales,
purchasing, and labor targets, utilizing data analysis and
problem-solving skills to drive business results.
- Assists in the analysis of sales reports, labor data, and other
key performance indicators to inform business decisions and drive
operational improvements.
- Develops and maintains advanced product knowledge, staying
up-to-date on new products and trends to effectively communicate
with customers and team members.
- Maintains strong vendor relationships, negotiating deals and
ensuring timely payment processing to drive business growth and
profitability.
- Collaborates with the Team Leader to resolve team concerns and
issues, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Functions as a point person and departmental lead in the
absence of the Team Leader, ensuring seamless operations and
effective communication with team members and customers.
- Establishes and maintains high standards of retail execution,
ensuring exceptional customer service, sales growth, and
operational efficiency.
- Fosters a positive and inclusive team environment, promoting
outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale.
- Maintains awareness of customer flows and needs, directing team
members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers, and responds
promptly to customer needs and questions.
- Selects, trains, develops, mentors, motivates, and counsels
team members to build a high-performing team and minimize
turnover.
- Provides timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance
evaluations to support team member growth and development.Job
Requirements
- 18+ months retail team member experience and 6+ months of
supervisory experience.
- High energy, enthusiasm, and affinity for Whole Foods Market
products, core values, and company philosophy.
- Growth mindset towards greater responsibility and
ownership.
- Desire to coach and mentor others for growth.
- Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team-building, and
customer relationship skills.
- Capable of teaching others in a positive and constructive
manner.
- Product knowledge and advanced knowledge of regulatory and
safety policies and procedures.
- Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial
performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory.
- Demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and
ability to prioritize and delegate.
- Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and
operations-related applications.Working Conditions
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- In an 8-hour workday: standing/walking 6-8 hours.
- Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and
pulling.
- Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting,
squatting, and reaching.
- Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
- Exposure to temperatures: 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights,
weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters,
electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.Note: The purpose
