Description:Main Purpose:The Scaffold Builder safely erects and dismantles scaffolding to provide temporary work access for structures.Essential Functions:Erects and dismantles scaffolding to provide work platforms on the worksite for temporary work such as painting, repairing welding, or other work required to construct a structureLoading, unloading, and organizing scaffolding materialsRegularly inspecting and maintaining scaffolding equipment to ensure it is in good working conditionUses various hand toolsSelect materials and fit together steel pipesPlace planks over horizontal bars to create platformsCheck levels in scaffolding structureIdentifying potential safety hazards and taking necessary precautions to mitigate risksEnsuring scaffolding is stable and safe for use by other workersFollow instructions, written and verbal, with little or no supervisionPerform other duties assigned by supervisorBenefits Offered:Earned Wage AccessHealth, Dental, and Vision Insurance401(k) with Company MatchPaid HolidaysPaid VacationLife InsuranceDisability InsuranceSafety AwardsCompany StoreEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Requirements:Physical Requirements:StandingWalkingTurning, twisting, bending, and stoopingPushing and PullingReaching, forward and overheadClimbingBalancing, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeingLifting - employees must lift to 25 pounds and occasionally 50-75 poundsJob Requirements:2+ years experience as a scaffold builderAbility to work at heights Ability to work in a team environmentAbility to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writingAbility to work day or night shift on a 7 day, 12 hour schedule in Port Arthur, TXMust be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screenMust be able to pass a background checkDesirable Experience, Education, and Training:Highschool diploma or GEDTools, Equipment, and Technology:Pliers, hammers, wrenches, lifting devices, safety equipment (belt, harness, etc.), man lifts and high reach equipmentEnvironmental Conditions:80% to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors. Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet, and dry conditions, dust, mud, etc. They may also be exposed to fumes (Paint, paint thinners, diesel, /or gas, etc.)Gulf Island will not sponsor applications for work visas.
