Summary / TWC Summary: JOB SUMMARY:The Educational Administration
and Foundations Department and the Division of Research and
Innovation invite applicants for a 9-month tenure-track faculty
position. The position is an external grant-funded position. The
new faculty member will be expected to carry out a vigorous,
externally funded research program, including research projects for
graduate students in the Doctor of Education (EDD) program, advise
doctoral students, and participate fully in teaching graduate
students enrolled in the program. Additional responsibilities
include teaching courses in the discipline area, providing
high-quality instruction and advising/mentoring to doctoral
students, assessing self, students, and teaching techniques to
increase effectiveness; continuous professional development;
actively participating in the university community; initiating
research and publishing in respective discipline area; collaborate
and support colleagues regarding research interests and
co-curricular activities; participate in service-related activities
both on and off campus. The applicant will also receive a 3-month
summer appointment to teach in the master's programs at the College
of Education during the external grant funding period.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:Successful candidates should be able
to demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in scholarly
research and teaching. Responsibilities for this position will
include conducting rigorous academic research, teaching
doctoral-level courses, and contributing to a dynamic faculty team
in expanding the doctoral program in Counselor Education at TSU.
The work distribution will be approximately 50% research, 40%
teaching, and 10% service for the first three years of the
appointment.
This is a Grant Funded position. Essential Duties Summary:
- Teaches courses in the discipline area and provides quality instruction with teaching techniques that increase effectiveness.
- Provides research and publication in the respective area of discipline. Collaborates and supports colleagues in research interests and co-curricular activities.
- Participates in college committees.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned. % FTE: 1.0
Hiring Range: $62,274.50 - $80.956.00 Education: An earned doctoral
degree in Educational Administration, Educational Leadership and
Policy Studies or an equivalent field. Required
Licensing/Certification: Successful K-12 administrative experience
with a current principal certificate
Valid Driver's License preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of:- Standard for principles, methods and procedures in an area and determines long-term direction under his/her guidance. May involve a level of expertise that is recognized both internally and nationally as top notch in the field.
- Microsoft Office Professional Suite or similar applications.
Skill in:
- Problem-solving and decision-making.
- Subject matter expert in a professional discipline or function; understood to be the "go-to" expert on complex methods and procedures.
- Strong time management.
- Both verbal and written communication. Ability to:
- Prepare detailed reports.
- Lead the development or modification of work procedures in the discipline or function for virtually any situation.
- Work independently. Work Experience: Preferred Experience:
- Two or more years of postdoctoral research experience.
- A record of impactful research publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Experience teaching in an active learning environment with innovative teaching strategies.
- Experience writing competitive funding proposals.
- Experience developing and maintaining a funded research program.
- Experience mentoring and advising graduate students.
- Experience fostering a sense of belonging for all students, including traditionally underrepresented populations in Educational Administration.
- Experience in recruitment and retention of graduate students.
- Drive to excel in teaching, research, and service.
